Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, K.K Sharma onSunday chaired a review meeting with the officials of Department ofTourism-directing officers to work for the implementation of various centrallysponsored schemes to promote tourism.
Addressing the officers during a meeting here at Srinagar,the Advisor Sharma stressed for reviewing each of the project and directed theofficials to spend the available funds diligently so that these do not getlapsed. He also reviewed the implementation of various schemes to promotetourism across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Advisor sought project wise detailed information ofcommencement and completion dates of all these projects including constructionof wayside facilities, facilitation centers, cafeterias, public conveniences tobe constructed for the better experience of the travellers.
Advisor Sharma urged the officials to envisage new projectsafter thoroughly determining their feasibility and viability. He stressed thatthe tourism infrastructure should be physically pleasing and aestheticallygratifying. He said that necessary renovations, improvements, or up gradationof infrastructure, wherever required should be made rapidly.
Advisor Sharma further said that efforts were underway tobring Jammu and Kashmir on international tourist pilgrimage map as the regionis replete with the historical religious sites of immense importance.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of the tourismdepartment and other concerned.
